My name is Helen Richer-Lecuyer and when I am not busy being a non-traditional florist, I enjoy spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren.
Bridal Bouquets by Helen started out as a hobby originally. I have always been a crafty person and enjoy working with my hands. In 2014, my daughter was getting married in Costa Rica. Her bridal bouquet was being made as part of her wedding package but she wanted to have bouquets made for her bridesmaids, being a destination wedding artificial flowers seemed like the only option. She ordered some flowers online. After struggling to assemble the bouquets she became frustrated and asked me for help. I took the flowers home with me and began to play around with them. A few days later I brought the finished products to my daughter’s house and she was blown away. She absolutely loved what I came up with.
Owning a small business of her own, she suggested I make a business of it. I really enjoyed putting the bouquets together and thought might as well give it a try. I found a couple of suppliers that sell high quality real touch flowers and started creating! I had no idea the business would take off and become as big as it has. I’ve become a recognized name in the city of Sudbury. I’ve had plenty of customers reach out to me and list the names of past brides I’ve created arrangements for. My boutonnieres were even featured at Tip Top Tailors on their suits for an entire season.
It brings me great pleasure to be able to make a business of something that I enjoy doing. Creating floral arrangements doesn’t feel like work to me, but still a hobby. The best part is the reaction I receive from the brides when I send them pictures of their completed projects. I always tell them the pictures don’t do the flower justice and when they come and pick them up they can’t believe how real they look and are so excited to have them as a part of their big day!
